What do you want to see on |StartingGrid| in ’15?

In 2014, I didn’t post on |StartingGrid| nearly as much as I’ve wanted to. Mostly, because I was focused on getting my feet stable in competition karting. I’m not upset with that at all, but I decided at the end of the year that I wanted to put more attention back into having fun with the blog.

I’ve been chatting with some people about some topic ideas that would be fun to write about, so below are some of my ideas.

|World Formula| Recapping the end of the year…or something.

Honestly, I’m not sure what to title this post, seeing that I wanted to put so many things in it. Now that it’s the winter time, I figured it was a good idea to do a end of the year wrap up post. Seeing that it’s been a few months since the last Gold Cup race, I’d been holding off on any new posts for a little while, as I’ve been wrapping up the year and prepping for 2015.

|Video| Karting – What do I get out of it?

A few years ago, I found myself attracted to competition karting, not only because of the amount of seat time that you can get, but because of the types of people who make up the sport.

|World Formula| End of the year… what next?

I got a chance to go up against some good four-stroke talent this year, which gave me a good reference of how good my driving is

This year was my first time competing in a regional kart series. I took part in the IKF Region 6 Gold Cup. Now that the season is over, I’ve had a few friends who just wanted to have a quick summary on how the racing season went, so I figured that I would give a quick post on that.

|???| Just keeping you up to date, I guess…

NewBackground

I’m the luckiest guy on the track, really.

So I’ve had a lot of people pinging me lately, asking what’s been going on race-wise and in my life, since I haven’t been posting a lot of here. So let me catch you up.

So things have been pretty busy, in a good way, getting ready for the last regional sprint race of the year. I’ve been racing in the Gold Cup this year with my World Formula, and I’m currently 4th in points out of 26 drivers.  If the race weekend goes really well at the end of the month, I’d end up in the top three, which would be a bonus, given all of the engine troubles that I’ve been having.

It’s been a busy few weeks, both in and out of the kart! I’ve been working with several new sponsors on some projects this year, and so it’s been keeping me nice and active. I’ve been fortunate enough to be signed to RacerTimes’ Supported Driver Program. RacerTimes has been an amazing sponsor helping me to get the competitions. Through their driver program as a supporter of grassroots racing, they have really helped take my racing program to the next level.

Getting ready for a soaking Saturday final during Gold Cup weekend

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to do a project log. It’s been a real busy couple of months, karting-wise, but I’m not complaining in the slightest! To be honest, I’ve never had more fun in my entire life!

One of my teammates, Josh Stanford, volunteered himself to be my chassis tuner to help improve the setup of the World Formula kart after I finished fourth in my first regional race. We’d been noticing some improvements in the kart handling here and again, but given how competitive we had been during the finals of the first Gold Cup race, we’ve really been waiting to take the performance up a notch or two. |World Formula| Start of the Racing Season…with Pictures! #kart

Of course, someone catches me mugging the camera in my fatty kart suit.

I guess we have to do something ourselves sometimes, right?

So the start of the 2014 race season has finally gotten underway for myself and my karting team, Xccel Racing. We’ve got several drivers in different categories of machines this year, so that allow us get out to several different tracks in the Pacific Northwest.

|World Formula| Gotta love that learning curve…

The last year has been a whirlwind of change, at least racing-wise. I was able to get my own kart and transportation, and start going to some club races. Compared to the racing that I used to do, this has been a complete different level of preparation just to get to the track. Continue reading

Big Stock Honda engine on the stand. My little World Formula engine on the ground. 😛

So finally I got around to writing the first project log of the year for the World Formula karts. It’s been a busy first few weeks, which is why it’s taken me so long.
