|Video| Mercedes Benz V6 Turbo audio #F1

A few weeks ago, Renault released an audio clip of their 2014 V6 engine. Many of the people who I talked to said, that they weren’t a fan of the ‘tinny’ nature of the V6 engine note. That being said, seeing that these clips are being recorded in an engine lap, it’s hard to get a true sense of what they will sound like in the open.

Now Mercedes has released a clip of their ‘Power Unit’, running a simulated lap of the Monza Circuit while on the dyno. Running Monza is largely at full throttle, so this video gives a good sense of the audio of the engine and general idea of pick up.

What do you think about it? Are you looking forward to the new V6 Turbos? What has been your favorite engine format in Formula 1?
