I’ve been getting ready for the 2014 F1 season for a while, but I still was confused how the new hybrid turbo system worked. I read articles about it, watching BBC F1 videos and whatever else I could find, but it still made no sense! Then Mercedes comes out with this simple video… and then *click!*. Sometimes it’s just the simple things.

In 2014, Formula 1 is going through one of the largest technical regulation changes in the series. We all know about the change from the 2.4 V8 engine to the 1.6 Liter V6 turbo “power unit”. (Click here to hear the Mercedes V6 turbo on the dyno.)
However, there are other aerodynamic and physical changes to the car that people may not know about, just simply described.
This one is more for the ears, instead of the eyes. I’d suggest getting some good headphones and just relaxing to the sounds of Formula 1 V12 engines.
