Audi R18 ETron testing makes me wonder why I don’t watch more WEC.

So with all of the negative press surrounding F1 in media-life, my friends and I have been talking about other racing series that we probably should be paying more attention to. Eventually the conversation always comes back to the World Endurance Championship.

Even though it’s harder to ‘relate’ to a team when you have three cars per team and three guys sharing a car, you really cannot doubt that the P1 cars are basically Formula 1 cars with roofs on them.

Check out this test at Monza. You can’t argue this speed.

In 2009, Audi released a documentary called ‘Truth in 24’, which highlighted their attempt to win the 24 Hours of LeMans outright. The titanic battle between Audi and Peugeot came to such worldwide acclaim that a second one will be released later this year. Super psyched!

I’ve always believed that in order to raise interest about motor racing that supporting fans need to feel like they are actually part of the experience.  Audi has developed a sweet marketing campaign to combine social media with the actual racing.

Alain McNish is one of my racing heroes. His approach to racing is so detailed and informative. This interview covers a lot of his mental and physical preparation, on and off the track.  Worth the watch, even though it’s 30 minutes long.

Super worth it.

We all need to know more about this car! (Audi Group B Prototype)

So I’m going to have to do some more research on this, but from what I know the photo above was of Audi’s 1000bhp rally car that was planned to be the next Group B successor. I don’t know much beyond that for the moment, but I’m going to do some internet investigations this weekend.

Think anyone can help me out? We all need to know more about this car!
