It’s a Friday, so I’m just going to leave you with some fun motorsports noises to get everyone excited for the weekend.
What are your weekend plans? I’ve got a practice day in the kart this weekend, tuning some setup pieces and shaking some rust off, while I wait for my new motor to arrive to prep for Gold Cup.
Also a new video project is in the works, so that should be coming soon! Have a good weekend!
I’ve been watching plenty of rallycross videos, since catching notice of Subaru’s Launch Control series on Youtube. However what I recently found, I thought was worth sharing. Although you’d think that AWD would rule the Rallycross arena, the 2wd class has some exciting battles too.
Enter this RX-8. It isn’t the car that I would think of when selecting a 2WD rallycross car, but this one has got the business all over it!
…as a two-wheel drive rally car. Bill Caswell, and the team over at Build/Race/Party have always been known for doing awesome grassroots racing projects, but this was just looks straight fun! Check out William Petrow at Team ONeal Rally School, having some fun.
We might need to forget any drifting ambitions we had, and get a 240SX for rally!
So it’s Friday, and my brain is tangled up in writing another article, so here is Kimi racing a lawnmower. Also I’ve got two questions for everyone.
- Why isn’t lawnmower racing more of a thing? I mean they already have a lawnmoyer that can go 117mph.., so why don’t we see more of that?
- Do you think that Ferrari’s contract only is allowing Kimi to just go lawnmoyer racing, outside of F1?
Enjoy the weekend, guys.
If there one track that you want to have pretty down, it’s the Nurburgring. Sabine Schmitz isn’t the “Queen of the Ring” for nothing, as she passes over forty cars in two laps of the Nordschleife in the rain during a VLN race.
Epic doesn’t even begin to describe it.
See, this is what we’re missing in the modern age of motorsport. Noise, smoke and more noise.
God bless you, Mad Mike.
Bring your rotary here to the States, so we can hear some of this glorious noise too!
So one of the upsides with all of my frustration with the current format of Formula 1, is that I’ve been giving a good look at other forms of professional motorsports. One of them that has really grabbed my attention has been the World Touring Car Championship. I’ve been falling in love with the race format. Then to top it all off, I find out that WTCC is going to be racing at the Nordschleife in 2015.
The Ring. The Nordschleife, with epic touring car battling? I will not miss watching this race!
Check out Felipe Merjech drifting his shifter kart in the rain. I just had this video shared with me, and I had to post it on StartingGrid. The angle that he carries between the corners is just awesome!
It shows you can also get away with a lot more in the rain in a kart, than you think. I wonder if he was running Vega rain tires, those have amazing grip in soaking conditions… Anyway, mucho impressive.
Bartek Ostałowski has officially impressed the bejeezus out of me. Having lost the use of his arms, Bartek drifts using his feet, and shifts with his shoulder. His car control is amazing. It’s really got to be seen to be believed.
Massive respect here. It shows that you can get anything done if you want it bad enough. This guy drifts with no arms. What’s your excuse?
I just had the most random thought…
I’m really looking forward to Formula E, but I just realized that this whining sound is all that I’ll be hearing during the races. That high-pitched shrill is going to be very difficult to listen to for twenty minutes at time when you have several cars on screen at the same time. Continue reading
