Due to the sensitive and hostile environment of a Formula 1 car, crucial system checks must be done each time the car takes to the racetrack. This is typically done over the car’s first lap, during what’s known as the ‘installation lap’.
The installation lap of a Formula 1 car is one of the most crucial procedures over a race weekend.
In order to give more insight, Mercedes GP has released a video which decodes some of the operations that the driver and team have to perform over the lap to ensure that the car is prepared to function at peak performance.
